Reflection
This has been an area of considerable growth for me with regards to governance models, stakeholders, and aligning support. Attending school board meetings and work sessions for the past year has furthered my understanding of the role of the school board in governance. My work guiding the Appendix C review involved multiple stakeholders including teacher union representation, activity coaches and advisors, and administration. Working to ensure each group had voice in the process and working to align all stakeholders needs was an excellent growth opportunity in working with internal stakeholders. The Deer River High School remodeling project specifically the stakeholder listening sessions has helped me to better understand the importance of giving voice to external stakeholders and how stakeholder voice can help align support of the district. On the other hand I had a deep understanding of the importance of social agencies and human services through my work regarding Full Service Community Schools (FSCS) on the district leadership team, frequent work and discussions with the district FSCS director, and our district's commitment to providing mental health services.
